Sweet Merge Game Review

Sweet Merge Game Background

Sweet Merge is a dessert-themed merging game. Drop round sweets down the play area and merge identical pairs of sweets to create bigger ones. Keep merging until you form the largest possible dessert piece. The game was inspired by Suika Game.

How to Play Sweet Merge

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers.

At the center of the welcome screen, select the green play button to begin. Select anywhere onscreen to drop your current dessert ball. Drop two identical dessert balls next to each other to merge them. Repeat the process for as long as you can.

The game automatically generates the first 4 balls. Every subsequent one must be formed by merging. Each time you form a new ball, the game notifies you with a pop up.

The game ends when the stack of balls reaches the top of the screen.

Basic Gameplay Advice

You earn points for every pair of identical balls you merge. The number of points you earn depend on the value of the dessert balls merged. The lowest-valued ball, for instance, will get you 10 points, the balls directly after that will give you 20 points, and so on. Your web browser automatically saves your best score; your best score appears both on the welcome screen and next to your current score on the top center of the game screen. Your best score updates in real time.

Unlike our other watermelon-style ball merging games, you cannot see the next ball you’ll be dropping. Thus, you’re restricted to planning the location of the ball you have on hand.

Place the balls in as orderly a fashion as you can. Keep the smaller balls away from blocking the larger ones. Fortunately, the game makes it easy to form orderly rows of in the early game. Keeping the placement neat not only allows larger balls to merge unobstructed, it also keeps large cavities from forming within the stack. These large cavities can make the stack pile up higher, putting you at risk of an early game over.

Drop the balls with care. Ideally, you should wait until they stop rolling before dropping the next one. Letting the balls settle can also lead to some balls to merge by themselves. Alternately, you can drop balls intentionally to push other balls, which is useful if you want to merge a pair that just need a nudge to touch.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Find a way to merge the balls efficiently so they eventually form the largest one. One way we suggest is by arranging the balls from smallest to biggest. Choose a side to place the biggest and smallest balls and drop the others based on where they should go.

Low-value balls take a long time to be useful and may get in the way of bigger ones. Try to keep them out of the way of the larger ones. Ideally, you should keep them close to one another to merge them faster. In less ideal situations, you can settle for tossing them into the corners to keep them from standing in the way of merging larger balls.

The game has no time limit. Take all the time you need when planning where to drop each of the balls. Careful planning will help you minimize mistakes that can set you back.

Educational Aspects

The game highlights the importance of careful, strategic planning. Players are encouraged to think long and hard about where to drop the balls before merging them. As the game has no time limit, it also helps players learn the value of patience.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suited for school-aged players and above. The game is relatively easy to learn and master. We recommend it for fans of merging games like the original Suika Game.
