Idle Megamall Empire Game Review

Idle Megamall Empire Game Background

Idle Megamall Empire is an idle tap tycoon game that puts you in charge of the development of a major commercial center. Build and expand a mall one store at a time and use your profits to improve operational efficiency.

The game was developed by MarketJS, the team behind Idle Hypermart Empire and Idle Mole Empire. It follows a similar set of rules to the other two games.

How to Play Idle Megamall Empire

Select Play at the center of the welcome screen to begin. To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the screen with your fingers. Use your starting capital of $10 to build your first retail floor. Build a retail floor by selecting an empty floor. Later in the game, you will need to refurbish some floors before you can build on them, which will cost you extra.

Your operations are as follows:

  • The retail floors generate revenue.
  • The elevator brings the revenue to the sales office.
  • The sales office transfers the revenue to your funds.

At the start of the game, you must manually operate all three major parts of your mall (elevator, sales office, and retail floor) by selecting them. These will cycle through their activities and will become selectable again once the cycle stops.

To have each part of your operations cycle continuously, hire a manager as soon as you can afford it. Every new retail floor you build has no manager; you must hire them separately. When your elevator, sales office, and at least one retail floor has a manager, you begin to earn idle income, which lets you make money while the game is inactive.

Use the profits you make to upgrade your operations and expand your store. Your elevator, sales office, and every retail floor you make can be upgraded.

When you’ve made enough profits, an investor will come by asking to buy you out in exchange for higher starting profits. Accepting an investor’s offer will force you to restart, but in the process you will make more money early on. The longer you wait before accepting the offer, the more investors will join in and the higher your new starting profits will be. You can choose when to accept the investor’s offer.

Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Automation should be your first goal. Keep running each segment of your operations manually until you earn enough money to hire your first managers. This will not only free you up to focus on construction, it will also let you generate idle income while you’re not actively playing the game. Once you do get idle income, consider leaving the game alone for awhile when you’ve run out of things to build, then come back to it later.

Upgrading the elevator and sales office increases their capacity to carry money. Normally, you can leave them be. Their capacity is usually adequate for your operational needs. You’ll know it’s time to upgrade, however, when a large amount of uncollected money starts to accumulate.

Upgrading retail floors, meanwhile, increases their speed and income. They also gain an extra shopper every 25 upgrade levels.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Expansion is a key part of the game. Often, you can earn more money in the short term by building a new floor instead of upgrading the current ones. As soon as you can afford it, buy a new floor and hire a manager to get it up and running.

Despite what the tutorial tells you, upgrades are a much lower priority for most of the game. It’s often better to upgrade retail floors later; the ramping costs of upgrades usually far exceed buying a new floor. We recommend upgrading the floors only when the cost is lower than just expanding. We also suggest prioritizing upgrades for the upper floors.

Buy upgrades in bulk. On the upgrades screen, we recommend upgrading in increments of 10 or selecting the max button to buy all the upgrades you can afford all at once.

Educational Aspects

This game is a simplified business simulation that highlights the importance of reinvesting funds into a business to foster growth. It also underscores the importance of delegation; large-scale growth isn’t possible until you leave some jobs to the managers. That said, the game omits many key business concepts like operational costs.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suited for younger and older fans of idle games and tycoon games. That said, young children may find this game a bit too slow-paced, especially at the start of the game.
