Idle Hypermart Empire Game Review

Idle Hypermart Empire Game Background

Idle Hypermart Empire is a 2D idle tycoon game. You are put in charge of a skyscraper hypermart and must build up the store one floor at a time. Direct employees and managers and use your earnings to improve your operations.

The game was developed by MarketJS, the same team as Idle Mole Empire. The two games follows similar mechanics.

How to Play Idle Hypermart Empire

On the welcome screen, select the play button near the center to begin. To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the screen with your fingers.

You have a starting capital of $10, which is enough to pay for the first retail floor. Go ahead and build this by selecting the empty floor. To manage an individual floor, select it when it has no activity. You can select it again when the activity finishes.

Floors without managers must be selected individually to function. You do not have any managers at the start of the game. Thus, you must run the retail floor, cash counter office, and elevator manually until then. Managers allow your employees to work by themselves without supervision. You can praise managers to make everyone under them work double time. This lasts for 30 seconds and has a cooldown time of 3 minutes.

Use the cash you’ve earned to upgrade your operations and expand your store. The elevator, cash counter office, and every retail floor can be upgraded. Select the level number button to upgrade your retail floors, elevator, and cash counter office. To expand, select an empty floor and pay the required price. Some floors need to be refurbished before you can expand on them, which costs you extra.

After you make billions in profits, an investor will approach you offering increased initial profits for a complete restart of the business. The higher your profits, the more investors will go on board. You have the option to put this off.

Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your first goal should be to hire managers at all points of production (the elevator, cash counter office, and your first retail floor). This will not only save you the trouble of having to individually select each one but also grant you a trickle of idle income. Idle income allows you to keep making money even when you’re not playing the game. Scaling up your production increases your idle income.

Expanding to the first few floors will only cost you the price of the new floor (though we recommend adding the cost of the manager as well). Unfinished floors will cost you extra to get it ready for building.

Upgrading the elevator and cash counter office increases their capacity. We recommend upgrading them as soon as they start becoming inefficient (that is, when they don’t gather all the earnings in a single cycle). Upgrading retail floors increases both their output and their speed. You gain an extra worker every 25 upgrade levels.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The game favors expansion. As soon as you afford it, buy new retail floors and hire a manager for it.

Although the game’s tutorial encourages you to upgrade the retail floors right away, it’s often better in practice to upgrade later. Because upgrades have a ramping cost, we recommend upgrading in increments of 10 or, barring that, selecting the max button on the upgrades screen to buy all the upgrades you can afford at once. Because each new floor adds more revenue than the last, it makes better sense in the early game to upgrade the topmost floors first.

Educational Aspects

At its core, this game is a simplified business simulation. Although it lacks essential business concepts like recurring operational costs, it illustrates the need to spur growth by reinvesting profits into improvements. The game also highlights the importance of delegation, as growth isn’t possible until you leave the work of running the operations to managers.

Player Age Recommendations

We recommend this game to fans of idle games and tycoon games. The game is suited for a wide range of players ranging from older children to adults, though younger players may find its pace too slow.
