Grocery Cashier Game Review
Grocery Cashier Game Background
Grocery Cashier is a math game patterned after cash registers. Your job is to process payments at the checkout as quickly as you can. The catch is that you don’t have a barcode scanner, so you’ll have to input the price of each item by hand.
How to Play Grocery Cashier
Select Tap to Begin to get started. Follow the in-game tutorial to learn the basic functions of each game; this is identical to actual gameplay but without the time limit. Each time you restart the game, you reload the tutorial.
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the screen with your fingers.
Type in the value of each of the items by selecting the numbers on the register to the left. To create decimals, select the decimal point button before pressing a number. Once you’re done, press the plus button to move onto the next item. Select the clear button if you make a mistake. Once you’ve checked the prices of all the items, select the total button to get the sum of all the prices.
The customer pay with either a set of bills and coins or a voucher. If the customer gives coins, you must determine the value of what they’ve given using the chart on the right. If the customer gives a voucher, enter the value of the voucher and press the subtract button. Select Done on the right side of the screen to finish the transaction. If the customer pays in cash, choose the right amount of bills and coins to give change; you do not need to give change if they pay with a voucher.
The game is timed. Finish each customer’s checkout before the timer bar on the bottom row reaches the right side of the screen. When the game ends, you can share your score with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or WhatsApp.
Basic Gameplay Advice
There are two types of transaction in this game. Cash transactions and voucher transactions. Voucher transactions are easier to fulfill and take less time to finish. Cash transactions require processing the cash payment and the change, and thus take slightly longer and are less forgiving of mistakes.
You earn points based on the number of customers you process. The points depend on how fast you finish the checkout.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Individual items usually don’t value any higher than $10, which should make it easier to input their values quickly. Hit the total button immediately once you’ve checked every item. Check the left edge of the screen to see how many more items need to be checked.
Memorize the location of each of the bills, coins, and vouchers and add them up as quickly as you can. This will help you punch in the customer payment and give the right change.
Educational Aspects
This is a mathematics game that tests the player’s knowledge on bill denominations. Players must choose the right set of bills and coins quickly to give the correct amount of change to the customers before the timer runs out.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for school-aged children and above. We recommend this game for younger players who are learning about the mathematics of money and who will learn from seeing practical applications of addition and subtraction.
