Basic Gameplay Advice
The game has 8 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten.
You earn points by collecting items, stomping enemies, and performing actions:
- Stars are worth 25 points each.
- Enemies are worth 100 points when stomped.
- The key is worth 100 points.
- Opening the barrier to the button is worth 100 points.
- Pressing the button is worth 250 points.
Your points carry over from one playthrough to the next. should you die at any point in the level, you will not lose any of the points you’ve earned so far.
Enemies patrol the level on the ground and from the air. In both cases, the only way to beat them is to jump and stomp them. Enemies will not actively chase you, but if you touch them you will lose a life.
You start the game with 3 lives. Each time you hit an enemy, you lose a life. Lose all your lives and it’s game over. Each time you die, you start again at the beginning of the level.
You can encounter the following hazards in each level:
- Spikes
- Bottomless pits
- Crumbling platforms
- Falling chocolate bars
Unlike with enemies, hitting or falling into a hazard is an instant game over.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Chocolate bars that drop will often form a stable platform over spikes. However, they are only activated when you try to jump below them. To drop them, jump forward a little bit but return to the platform you were previously on as quickly as you can. This will trigger the bar and force it to drop down. In some levels, this is your only way of creating a safe path over a pit of spikes.
Observe your enemies before you attack them. Some enemies move in a predictable back and forth pattern, while others swoop toward you from above.
Because the points you earn are retained even if you die, there’s no real reason to try and collect all the stars. Collect them only if you want to.
Educational Aspects
The game is a platformer, which hones hand-eye coordination and improves motor skills.
