Coffee Break Game Review
Coffee Break Game Background
Coffee Break is a simple coffee shop-themed bubble shooting game. Your goal is to clear out the stack of bubbles by shooting bubbles at it and forming groups of 3 or more of the same color.
How to Play Coffee Break
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers.
On the welcome screen, select Play to begin on the first level and Select Level to choose from one of the 30 available levels. Unlike other bubble shooter games with levels, all the levels of this game are unlocked from the beginning.
Shoot bubbles from the bottom center of the screen. Form groups of 3 or more identical bubbles to clear them from the stack. To aim, select anywhere on the screen, then release to shoot. Any bubble attached to the ones you clear will also be cleared if they’re not attached to anything else. As the bubbles pop, they release coffee beans. Keep clearing bubbles until all the bubbles in the stack are cleared.
Each time you shoot 3 bubbles without clearing anything, new bubbles appear at the top of the stack. This pushes the stack downward. Don’t let the stack reach the bottom of the screen. If it does, it’s game over. You can retry any failed level as many times as you need.
Basic Gameplay Advice
You begin with a bubble in the shooter and the next bubble waiting just to the lower left of it. Use this to your advantage. Once the stack is cleared of all bubbles of a single color, that color will no longer be available. If the that bubble appears as your current or next bubble, it will turn into bubbles of an extant color.
Every bubble you pop is worth 10 points. The minimum number of points you can earn per move is 30. Your score is cumulative across all the levels you play. Each time you win, the points you’ve earned is added to your score. If you fail a level, your score reverts back to the score you began with.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
The best time to do trick shots is at the game. Your first 3 shots should be enough to knock several solid-colored groups of bubbles holding up a bunch of others. Toward the end of the level, it pays to shoot with caution and go for the easier shots. This will help you avoid forming new lines of bubbles that would delay the end of the level.
If the stack is very low and you have a bubble you can’t easily use, you have two options. The first is to shoot it to the sides so that it doesn’t block the way of the next bubble. The other is to attach it to a stack that you know you can remove on your next shot.
It pays to plan ahead. Don’t shoot until you have a spot for both the current bubble and the next one.
Educational Aspects
This game tests a player’s ability to aim and plan ahead. Players must choose the right spot for both optimal and suboptimal bubbles and to choose shots that will clear more of stack.
