Basic Gameplay Advice
Each match consists of 5 shots. You always go first. Make more successful shots than your opponent to win the level. If the match ends in a tie, the the game goes into sudden death. If the first player lands a basket in the sudden death round, the second player can attempt to land one to re-tie the game. The match ends when one player misses.
The game is a tournament, arranged in according to groups. The first phase consists of 5 qualification matches against the other teams in your group. Win the qualification matches to proceed to the second phase, the knock-out tournament phase. Win the second phase to win the entire tournament.
To win in the qualification round, you need to earn the highest number of points. Each match you win is worth 2 points, while losing a match gets you 1 point. This means you can lose a few matches in the qualification round and still proceed to the knock-out round. Meanwhile, losing even one match in the knock-out round is an instant game over.
On the first match, the hoop is static. It starts to move in later matches, either up and down or left to right. In the knock-out tournament rounds, the hoop moves in all directions in a set pattern.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
It is easier to play this game on a desktop than on a touchscreen device. On a desktop, you can see more of the screen and your view will not be obstructed by a finger. On top of that, the aiming and shooting functions on the desktop are distinct, whereas they are one and the same on a touchscreen device.
Pay attention to the movement of the hoop before shooting. Time your shots to ensure that the basketball enters the hoop at the right moment. For this game, we recommend aiming for the backboard rather than the front of the rim.
In many cases, it’s often better to shoot with a higher arc than a flatter one. An arc shot would have the ball pass in a more perpendicular route than a flatter shot, almost guaranteeing a basket. Balls that come from a lower angle can make high-arc shots easier.
When shooting from a hoop that goes up and down and the ball is higher up, it’s better to shoot the ball when the hoop is at its highest point. It is far more difficult to shoot down.
Take your time when making each shot. The game has no time limit, and you’ll need the extra time to memorize the pattern the hoop moves.
Shoot the ball at the right moment to increase your chances of landing the basket. If you find yourself undershooting, consider shooting as the hoop goes down or moving toward you, or both. Likewise, if you’re constantly overshooting, the way to remedy this is by shooting when the hoop is further away, moving up, or both.
Educational Aspects
This game hones a player’s aiming and timing skills, both of which are needed to successfully land a basket.
Player Age Recommendations
The game is suited for players school-aged and above. The early qualification stage of the game is comparatively low-stakes and is less frustrating to play for beginners. More serious players, meanwhile, will enjoy the higher stakes of the tournament phase of the game.
